It’s been about a year since the Lebanese lira stopped its daily roller-coaster ride. No more wild jumps, no sudden panic over the dollar rate.
Finally, some calm.
But calm doesn’t mean cheap 😅 — prices still don’t make sense.
You walk into a supermarket for a few basics and somehow leave paying like you just did luxury shopping. A coffee, a snack, a taxi ride — everything feels expensive, even though the exchange rate hasn’t really moved.
So what’s happening?
It’s not just the lira anymore — it’s a mix of global and local pressures:
🌍 Around the world, food and transport costs remain high after years of inflation and shipping disruptions.
🇱🇧 Here in Lebanon, we add our own twist — customs fees, import taxes, and weak local production that keep pushing prices up.
The result? A country where even with a “stable” currency, the cost of living still feels unstable.
Some say businesses keep prices high “just in case.” Others call it the new normal. But there’s nothing normal about paying global prices with local salaries.
Lebanese people are known for patience — we’ve handled crisis after crisis — but lately, that patience is running out. The only thing going down in Lebanon right now… is our tolerance level 😬
Still, we laugh, we joke, we keep going — because that’s who we are. 🇱🇧
But the truth is, people have stopped asking why prices are high.
Now, we’re all just asking:

صارلها تقريبًا اكتر من سنة الليرة اللبنانية هادية. لا طلعات جنونية، ولا صدمات مفاجئة بسعر الدولار.
وأخيرًا شوي راحة.
بس الراحة ما بتعني رخص 😅 — الأسعار بعدها ما بتفهم!
بتفوت عالسوبرماركت تشتري شغلتين أساسيات، وبتطلع حاسس حالك عامل شوبينغ بماركة فخمة.
فنجان قهوة، سناك، تاكسي… كل شي صار غالي، مع إنو سعر الصرف تقريبًا ما تحرّك.
شو القصة؟
مش بس الليرة — القصة أكبر:
🌍 بالعالم كلو، أسعار الأكل والنقل بعدها عالية بعد سنين من التضخّم ومشاكل الشحن.
🇱🇧 وبـلبنان، منزيد عليها لمستنا الخاصة — الجمرك، الضرائب، وضع الإنتاج المحلي الضعيف يلي عم يضل يرفع الأسعار.
والنتيجة؟ بلد عملتو الليرة “مستقرة”، بس المعيشة بعدها مش مستقرة أبداً.
في ناس بتقول التجار عم يخلّو الأسعار عالية “احتياط”. وناس بتقول هيدي “العادة الجديدة”.
بس بصراحة، ما في شي عادي إنك تدفع أسعار عالمية، ومعاشك محلي.
اللبناني معروف بصبره — قطعنا بأزمات وضلّينا واقفين — بس هالصبر عم يخلص.
الشي الوحيد يلي نازل بلبنان هالفترة… هو مستوى تحمّلنا 😬
ومع هيك، منضحك، منمزح، ومنكفّي — لأنو هيدي طبيعتنا 🇱🇧
بس الحقيقة إنو الناس بطّلت تسأل ليش الأسعار غالية،
وصارت تسأل:
👉 كيف العالم بعدها عم تقدر تعيش؟
يمكن يوم من الأيام، كل شي يصير منطقي.
